Hi, I am a 28 year old photographer that also loves to cook. Put the two together and we get food photography–this is what I am spending the majority of my time doing these days, and I love every minute of it. Technically, my “studio” is my own kitchen and then a table where I lay everything out and photograph it. I try to use natural light as much as possible, but I won’t lie and say I never use artificial lighting. Part of being of a photographer, is understanding all kinds of light. I can’t refuse to learn about tungstens, flash and strobes. I live in the UK, and a sunny day is usually hard to come by, so I also use mini reflectors to enhance the food a bit.

My food blog primarily focuses on comfort food recipes. I believe in eating healthily as much as you can, but I know more than anyone how short can life be. I have been going through what seems to be endless medical difficulties for the past 6 years and was declared dead once on the operating table. So, I am going to eat delicious food that comforts me without feeling incredibly guilty. There are healthy ways of doing this, fast ways of doing this, vegetarian, vegan and easy ways. None of my recipes are overly complicated or take an enormous amount of time.

I also like to create recipes that use ingredients that aren’t too expensive, and if I could be a Freegan I totally would be one(I don’t have the ability to jump into skips unfortunately, and I haven’t found any supermarkets around where I live that leave their garbage unlocked). Even before the “credit crunch” there were plenty of us that couldn’t afford to spend £200 on food at one time, so I will help you to improvise. Try not to fall for the advertising of Marks and Spencer for example, you can get fresh ingredients that are just as good for half the price at your local market. I like to order food from a store called Goodness Direct, and also a place called The Daily Bread, which up until recently never sold any bread…go figure. :)
